Think About It-Window Washers Do It In The Light!
By Brian Jakowski
Its been said, ‘What you see is what you get,” but it may be more accurate to say, “ What you see is what you become!”
““I made a solemn pact with myself never to undress a girl with my eyes.
So what can I expect from God?.” Job 31:1–4 MSG
Job made this covenant because he was married. Looking on young women with lust dishonored both God and his wife. What’s more, it is sin, “But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 5:28. Doing so would a barrier between Job and Go; anything like this weakens your walk with Jesus.
““Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have!!” Matthew 6:22–23 MSG
Our media-rich society floods us with questionable images. Netflix and television are bursting with sexual situations that were once found only in seedy little XXX theaters, Then there are the Bang-bang-shoot em-up movies which are so popular or films like Lord of the Rings (our family loves the books & the movies) with unclear Christian messages, but bursting with dark shockingly lifelike imagery. I can no longer believe these images are good for my soul.
It’s not a new problem, it’s Just Balam’s plan to corrupt Israel dressed up for the 21st century and it’s radically changing what we think is acceptable in Christians and others! You can’t fill your life with this imagery and not be negatively affected.
What Will you Choose?
Ask yourself this question, would you watch this film with Grandma or young children. Is it okay to show at church Sunday morning? If not, why are you watching it? You’re faced with a choice. Will you choose the kingdom of God, live in the light and His blessings. Or will you choose something less, fall into darkness and trade blessings for curses? If your first response is well it’s not that bad, maybe you’re more jaded than you realize. Ask God what you need to to change then be still and listen. What you do next is between you and God.
As for me and my house, We’re going to wash our windows by cleaning up our movie collection and not get Netflix after all, then we’re going to live in the light; How about you?
