…Become What You Believe
What you believe drives and shapes how you live your life.
Believe your an eggplant and you’ll be living in a padded room. believe you’re nobody, and become invisible, even abused. Believe in the cross of Jesus Christ and become everything He intended.
He touched their eyes and said, “Become what you believe.” It happened. They saw. Then Jesus became very stern. “Don’t let a soul know how this happened.” But they were hardly out the door before they started blabbing it to everyone they met. Matthew 9:29–30 MSG
To be totally clear, the blind men in this verse weren’t healed because they believed. That would mean that Jesus actions were controlled by the blind men’s whims and desires.
Make no mistake, Jesus is fully God, fully sovereign, omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. In no way did the blind men’s beliefs heal them, Jesus did. However, it was their beliefs that drove them to ask Jesus to heal them.
The difference between thinking their belief alone healed them, or that it caused them to go the source of their healing, Jesus, is light years apart.
Lies of an Ancient Enemy
Getting your heart, soul and mind around this idea is critical, because your beliefs decide and drive every one of your thoughts, actions and responses.
The idea that the blind men’s beliefs, or that of the women who bled for years are alone responsible for their healing is a twisted, dark side of faith to which that ancient enemy, Satan, will lead you.
Once on this dark side of faith, the path that led to Satan’s fall, the enemy helps you begin to subtly believe your believe alone is enough to heal yourself or others, making god a mere puppet to your whims.
This type of faith and belief become abusive. From this dark side of faith, people say, “If you only prayed harder or believed more a loved one wouldn’t have died or you wouldn’t be sick.”
Over the centuries, how many persons have been stopped from entering the kingdom of God or walked away from living lives of faith by persons spewing this dark abusive faith and belief.
If you are one, know that Jesus has never withdrawn His hand. The guilt was never yours. It’s time to come home, He is waiting, even pursuing you.
To be sure, faith and believing are key, but not to actually heal, they are meant to drive you to the source of everything, including healing, God/Jesus Christ.
Be Driven by What you Believe
What you believe drives and shapes every aspect of how you live your life. Decide here and now to let faith choose how you respond when cut off in traffic, or a check out girl makes a mistake.
Let your beliefs cause you to stop chasing what the world says you need and seek what God has for you. In closing I leave you with this passage from Philippians 1:6 MSG,
There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.
